Acid
Reflux Symptoms
Acid
reflux suffers will already recognize the common acid reflux
symptoms.
Although heartburn is the most well known, it is not the
only symptom.
Other acid reflux symptoms include chest pain, sore throat,
hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, coughing, and
nausea.
Perhaps
the most pressing of the acid reflux symptoms is the
heartburn. This
has a way of staying with the sufferer and upsetting a
regular day or a good night’s sleep. Normally, for mild cases,
simple antacids can help neutralize this
effect.
However, for more severe cases, heartburn symptoms can be
treated through proton pump inhibitors or H2 blocker
drugs. The
most well known include Prilosec, Prevacid, and
Nexium.
The
impact of each of these symptoms will also vary depending on
the severity of the acid reflux and the current damage to
the lower esophageal region. There are a number of ways
the lower esophageal region can be harmed; however, one
factor which can cause additional reflux outbreaks is a
hiatel hernia.
This unfortunate condition wrecks havoc on the lower
esophageal region allowing more acidic liquids to leak into
the esophagus.
Fortunately, hiatel hernia can be repaired to help give some
additional prevention for acid reflux.
If
you start to experience any of the acid reflux symptoms
listed above and it continues for several weeks, be sure to
consult your doctor for further direction. Addressing the problem
early can help save additional damage occurring to your body
and get you back on the road to recovery.
